Further details from Choir Secretary, Bryan Marshall: 01736 361189VACANCY FOR MUSICAL DIRECTOR for LOVENY MVCLoveny Male Voice Choir is seeking a Musical Director to be appointed as soon as possible. This well known Cornish Choir has been established for over 40 years. During this time it has had many successes including broadcasts, competitions and recordings. This is a mixed-ability choir of about 40 and our members are friendly, welcoming, and enjoy their music. We want to continue to improve, work hard and support our Musical Director in achieving our shared aspirations, while having fun and enjoying our singing. We are fortunate to have a deputy MD who is willing and able to continue the good work of the previous MD but not able to commit to the position full time. Accordingly, we are seeking an experienced, gifted, enthusiastic and creative musical director who will help us to accomplish this, with the help of our talented accompanist. We rehearse on a Thursday evening at St Neot Village Hall and Institute, from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Our concert programme for 2012 is fully booked and we will sing in a variety of venues. We have a large repertoire ranging from classics to modern popular works. We have a weekend tour to Wales this year and will be participating in the Whiteford Festival. We will be hosting choirs as part of the Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival in 2013 and later will be joining the massed Cornwall Federation of Male Voice Choirs in the Royal Albert Hall. We have some interesting prospects for 2014 including invitations to sing in Northern Ireland and Brittany. Further details about the choir can be found at www.lovenymvc.co.uk. For an informal discussion please contact David Williams, Chairman: 01208 72160. Written applications may be sent to David Williams, Chairman, at St Neot Village Institute, St Neot, Liskeard, PL14 6NL, to be received by 15th March 2012.VACANCY FOR MUSICAL DIRECTOR for ST KEVERNE MVCSt Keverne Male Voice Choir, one of the County's most successful over recent years, is seeking a new Musical Director from 1st January 2012. Ian Edwards who has been MD for seven years will be standing down at the end of the year. Under Ian's direction the choir has been sought after all around the county and further afield, singing to full houses. He was appointed in 2005 and has attracted many new younger singers to the popular group and led them back to the competition field where in his 7 years they have been awarded six first prizes at the Cornwall County Music Festival, their best ever record. Ian will be directing the choir at many of their forthcoming concerts and says "I've enjoyed my time and experiences with the choir who are a very loyal and dedicated group of singers. At this moment in time I cannot give the full dedication needed for the progression of the choir so it's only fair to give them time to interview and appoint a new MD". Anyone interested in the position should contact the Secretary, Richard Matthews on 01326 240873, or the Chairman Michael Williams, on 07975514525. Enquiries or expressions of interest are welcomed, preferably with short CV. Information pack on application to the Secretary: ACCOMPANIST required to join NEWQUAY MALE VOICE CHOIR's MUSICAL TEAM As a choir, we are always looking for new people to join either this musical team or join as choristers. Having recently been awarded the Federation “President’s Plate” for work in the community (an award given to the Cornish choir which has done most to encourage more youngsters, especially boys, into choral singing) the choir welcomes anyone who enjoys singing. We would be delighted to welcome a third member of the musical team to share, on occasions, the accompanist’s responsibilities at both rehearsals and concerts. For the right candidate(s), this role could include taking or supporting section practices and occasional full rehearsals and concerts. The choir would also be delighted to hear from less experienced candidates who are interested in developing their accompanying or conducting skills. The musical team are supported by an enthusiastic and hard-working committee who are keen to see the choir develop still further in the future. Choir rehearsals normally take place on Wednesday evenings at Claremont Church Hall in Beachfield Avenue, Newquay between 7pm and 9:30pm from September to July. The choir is developing a popular and innovative repertoire which covers a wide range of styles and genres from classical, operatic, religious, folk, popular and modern as well as songs from the shows. Each year, between 12 and 20 public engagements are accepted with, often, invitations for bookings 2 years in advance. As a result, a great deal of money is raised for and with local charities and community groups. To register your interest, or for more information, please contact: DEPUTY ACCOMPANIST Following the retirement of their President and Deputy Accompanist, Diana Jenkins, St Buryan MVC is looking for a replacement Deputy Accompanist to work alongside their highly respected and evergreen Accompanist Norman Bunney. Norman is likely to be absent from the Choir for much of September and October while he has a new knee fitted, so the Choir is keen to find a new deputy as soon as possible. Under the musical direction of Portia Grant, Great Britain’s most westerly Male Voice Choir is now performing as well as at any time since its formation in 1941, with membership growing and with enthusiasm and friendliness to match. The Deputy Accompanist will play an important and regular role in rehearsals (held every Thursday evening from 7.30 to 9.00 pm in St Buryan Village Hall), and in supporting and substituting Norman at concerts and other engagements. Whilst there is the potential for flexibility to suit the successful applicant, this is seen as a long term appointment with the potential for growth and development.
